Lamentations of a Frustrated Seamstress
|
I was going good till the sewing machine broke. I was even attempting to kick the caffeine addiction. But when Dad gets home, he's not going to be pleased to have to fix the thing. He's had to do it before. It's not easy. But if we can't fix it here, it's cheaper to buy a new one than get it fixed professionally. I'd do it myself. I know exactly what's wrong. It's the same thing that's always wrong. But I can't get the dumb cover off the machine!!!! |

Famous Vocalist Complains of Incompetency in Local Shopping Facilities
|
(I'm famous, right? I mean, I've got my own website!?)
So here I am again. Jbear is home and life is making a farce of being normal for a few days before we head off to Lansdale for Music college.
I am so excited about the new voice classes. I hope I can get there early enough to sign up for participation. Until this year, the classes were conducted on an observation basis and the Gibbs would ask for volunteers. But that was a bummer, because even if you went to every single class, they still would call up folks who only attended once or twice. This year I'm quite happy to say there's a new guy in charge and you can sign up before hand to be a part of the class. Great fun. Now just have to decided which class to sign up for.
I am making curtains today. It took forever, but we finally decided on a style for the "big room" curtains. So I have fabric ready to cut for the dining room, the pantry and the family room windows. I'm so glad to be sewing them, because I've had little experience with complicated styles. Mostly I've only done the boring two-tier look. Or worse, the long two-panel w/o ruffles or fringe or anything. SHOOT ME!! So when Mom showed me the droopy swag with the drapey things on the sides, I screamed inside with excitement! Lately, I've been doing lots of cool sewing stuff. Jess had me making pillows for her bedroom. I really got creative with that because she gave me scraps of fabric and said "give me two pillows" and instead I think I got four or five. :) Quite pleased with myself, I assure you. I'd never done cool pillows before, just the plain square ones.
Still haven't finished the wallpaper in the office. For those of you who have not heard my complaints on the incompetency of Walmart associates and wallpaper manufacturers, consider yourself blessed for I will not submit you to them here. Let's just say I got halfway through and haven't finished yet.
And for those interested, I went to the orthodontist (how do you spell that?) Friday and she said I may not need braces after all, but that I definitely need to have those other two wisdom teeth removed. (!!!)
And that's the story of my life. |

The ShugaBowl |
Sounds like some kind of sports thing, but in reality, the ShugaBowl is just a little hideaway for me, Sugarcube herself, to let loose my thoughts and occasional creativeness. |
