Quotes From This Afternoon
|
Will you be quiet? We're trying to sleep up here!
We'll just draw a target on the wall so you can practice.
I just gotta tell you girls that that stuff's gonna go straight to your hips.
Yeah! We could all dress up as nuns and you could be the pope!
Where is the maid of honor?
These truly were direct quotes from folks around the office today.
Slowly, I begin to get my base of operations set up here at the office. Home was set up the day I came in. (Had to make it feel like a bedroom or I could never have gotten any sleep.) But I've been bringing in photos for my desk and Hershey kisses to induce people to come and say "hi." It works too, BTW. When anyone has candy or cookies of any sort, word gets around to all three floors before the day is out.
When Beth, Elizabeth and I got in to the office this morning, right after staff meeting, we found that someone had been catching mice in our office. That is to say, they took the computer mice and wrapped them in plastic Walmart bags. A harmless prank, but too quirky to let go. After accusing three separate fellows, each of whom had recent access to Walmart, we finally found the culprit to be one of the construction guys, Matt. He had planted the bags strategically on particular desks to frame his brother, Jarod. Of course, it worked. Jarod was the first one to be suspected. We would never have known the true mastermind if he had not confessed of his own free will. (Claims he was feeling guilty?)
Then about the middle of the day, the construction fellas were running power tools right outside our window. Well, it didn't really bother any of us girls, but it apparently bothered Mr. Vogrin, because he came into our office, climbed up on the windowsill, opened it up and stuck his head out. Then he delivered our first quote, "Will you guys be quiet? We're trying to sleep up here." This sent the girls into peals of laughter. It could be heard all over the floor, and launched the idea for today's blog entry.
Then for a little while, I stood waiting around for Beth and Beth to get to their respective stopping points so that we could all go down to the first floor to help one of the new construction guys, Joel, celebrate his birthday. (English translation: eat cake.)
I am off to the library this evening with Brittany. I'll have to see if they have any books or CD's on Spanish, maybe try to help myself along a little. |

It's good to hear that you're doing well up there! Thanks for the updates. I so enjoy reading them (when I'm not packing or moving boxes that is!).
How is Miss Editor doing? Do you enjoy the work? Sounds like you have quite a group of co-workers :)
Love Ya!

When you come back, keep the habit of keeping hershey kisses at your desk (or house, whatever).

Sure thing. I'll be addicted to chocolate by the time I come home, so I'll have to keep them handy. :)

The ShugaBowl |
Sounds like some kind of sports thing, but in reality, the ShugaBowl is just a little hideaway for me, Sugarcube herself, to let loose my thoughts and occasional creativeness. |
